CITE Faculty Fellows Program

Faculty leading faculty—advancing teaching excellence across Mississippi State University.

Overview

The CITE Faculty Fellows Program invites Mississippi State faculty to partner with the Center for Innovation in Teaching Excellence in advancing teaching and learning across campus. As Fellows, faculty lead programming, produce scholarship, teach in CITE's signature courses, and model evidence-based practice building a campus-wide network of teaching leaders.

What Fellows Do

Lead programming. Fellows design and facilitate workshops, trainings, and courses that reach faculty across the university.

Produce scholarship and resources. Each cohort contributes to durable artifacts—publications, repositories, course materials—that strengthen teaching at MSU well beyond the fellowship.

Mentor and recruit. Returning Fellows help select and guide each incoming cohort, sustaining a self-renewing community of teaching leaders.

Serve as college liaisons. Fellows connect their departments to CITE's work and bring college-level teaching needs back to the Center.

Shape the CITE Symposium. All Fellows co-design and lead sessions at the Center's annual gathering of MSU educators.

How the Fellowship Works

Two-year Term | $5,000 Annual Stipend

Fellows serve a two-year term built as a deliberate progression: the first year establishes each cohort's signature work, and the second year refines that programming, mentors the incoming class of Fellows, and contributes to a chosen leadership project. Fellows meet monthly within their cohort, gather across cohorts throughout the year, and collaborate regularly with CITE staff. Terms may be renewed or concluded by mutual agreement.

Who Should Apply

The Fellows Program is open to full-time MSU faculty of any rank or track who are committed to teaching improvement and eager to lead alongside their colleagues. Applicants select a cohort, submit a short statement of interest and a project proposal, and provide their department head's acknowledgment of the two-year commitment. No prior fellowship experience is required. Curiosity, teaching credibility, and a willingness to build are what matter most. Applications are reviewed by current Fellows and CITE staff.
